Shadow Under the Trees

Jamie runs through the forest in the dead of night, a dark shadow following close behind her. Turning around to peer behind her, she spots the hooded figure walking slowly toward her with a meat cleaver at his side. She keeps running to the point where she feels like she is about to pass out. Bracing herself against a tree, she spots a light in the distance.
“Here Kitten, where did you run off to this time?” the hooded figure’s voice sounds from far behind her.
Jamie runs farther toward the light in the far distance, seeing the outline of a cabin with several lights on. Her heart swells with hope and joy at the sight of a structure. A Place to Hide.
Walking closer toward the cabin, Jamie climbs the small porch and knocks at the door. Pounding with her fist to have someone hear her within the building.
“HELP. Please, is someone in there. Please leave me in.” She cries, panic at the thought of running farther into the dark forest to escape the hands of this psychopath.
There is no answer at the door, Jamie tries the handle, and the door opens. Slipping inside, her foot feels a barrier come loose at her weight. She looks down and sees a thin wire on the threshold of the door. Oh my God, it was a tripwire. It’s a Trap.
As Jamie turns around a set of metal bars falls between her and the door of the cabin. The lights become brighter within the cabin, blinding her vision for a few minutes. As the spots clear she is face to face with the hooded figure on the other side of the bars. Jamie screams and falls back onto the ground, crawling to get distance between them.
“Scared Kitten, this was a fun game, wasn’t it?” The hooded figure says moving his head side to side and shifting the meat cleaver in his palms. “Now the chase is over, and I can enjoy the show.”
“Please don’t kill me, just let me go.” Jamie pleads, tears streaming down her face. “I won’t tell anyone; this can be our secret. I’m innocent.”
The hooded figure chuckles a little, laying the meat cleaver on the ground a few inches away from the bars. He moves his hand to the frame of the door and seems to press something hidden in the wood.
“We’ll see if you are innocent, or if you are a killer like me.” The hooded figure says as he slowly moves away from the door frame as there are clicks sounding.
Jamie turns around as the floor opens at the far end of the cabin. A Black Bear rushes out at her, paws reaching farther than its body. There is no time to react to grab the cleaver as the Bear tears at her flesh.
The hooded figure stands there, watching as the bear kills the girl. “I guess you aren’t, well, onto the next one I guess.”
